Hey yall im not totally familiar w/ FE motors, but a buddy of mine called the other day trying to put some numbers, since hes a bow tie finatic, in the 2 ton they have used for the past 20 years hauling rock. he cracked the hood to pull the numbers and on the valve cover it said 426? and so did the valve cover displacement tag what the heck in a 2ton of all things would a 426 be doing i have seen 428's but is this some industial heavy duty beast? where did this outcast come from, its an FE motor. could these be a mistake or did for make a power house 426?
Its in a ford and ive seen the motor before its got the FE heads and giant intake i just never dusted off the cove and looked at the stickers thought it to be a 428 maybe hes looking at em wrong and its a 428 with smudge marks on the 8 to look like a 6 i just figured id bounce it off some who are more familiar with the FE motors
thanks dusty
A 2 ton truck wouldn't have come with a FE anyway. If it has the plug configuration like this \\// it would have come with a FT. :-)
You can't depend on them bowtie boys for nuthin, no brains to start with.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Thats fascinating, its a 69 i think ... 2ton 28000 gvw with a four and two combo. where do you find info on the FT 426? just for kicks now its sounding more interesting.
See what happens when you allow your self to be influinced by a bowtie guy, who don't know nuthin to start with.
Maybe it's a 426 hemi not a 426 FE :-)

If it is a Hemi you can bet your butt id have been snatching it up in a hurry, I got a set of Big Block hemi heads and a small block hemi for my jeep in my garage, amazing engines, but thats off the subject.
