360 timing gear situation
Rebuilding a 360 we ran into the problem of the pin that goes into the fuel pump eccentric is too short. We thought this was just the wrong timing gear set...but we returned the other one and the new one is exactly the same situation. A local mechanic said just to fill the hole with tin foil. Im kind of skeptical about that. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Go to the hardware store and get a longer dowel pin. They should be case-hardened, so if you get one too long, you will have to cut it with an abrassive wheel or trim it with a grinder.
