The smog pump that originally came on my 1985 F-150 has been long gone, and that heavy iron smog pump bracket/alternator bracket is a big eyesore. I would like to replace it with something that is perhaps lighter and doesn't have the provision for the smog pump.
Have any of you replaced that bracket with something better? If so, what did you use, and where did you get it from, and how much did it cost you?
I didn't replace mine when I rebuilt the motor in Hoss and eliminated the smog equipment. Instead, I just cut the stock Alt. bracket in half and notched a groove in it so to run the heater hose to the water pump without putting a kink in it. Take a look at my gallery, it's in there.
As for a different bracket, a friend of mine got one from L&L products. It had a gold anodized finish on it and it wasn't cheap I don't think.

same thing I did. I just ran a sawzall right along the top bolt hole into the head. THen grinded it smooth! I can put a picture of it up if you want.
