460 Bell Housing Pattern
I have a C6 from a 79 460 4x4 and would like to know what other engines it will fit. I have been told it will fit a 351m/400m and possibly others. Does any one know for sure?

a C6 came with those engines, also with the 300 six cylinder, and i have seen a 302 C6, and a 351C C6.
but the bellhousing bolt pattern is engine specific, and when swapping between engine familys, the 385 series 460/426 and the 335 series 351M and 400 are the only ones that are compatable.

ford had two bell housing paterns for the trucks- the narrow bolt and the wide bolt, in reference to the top two bolts of the housing. the 300, 302/289/and other small windsor engines, and the 351C(Cleveland) use the narrow. the FE's (312-428), the 429/460, and the 351M and 400, all use the wide bolt.
