brake controller

Hey I need to wire in a trailor brake controller. . . . i am sure somewhere in the POH(pilots operating handbook) it has wires and or fuses named for the trailor brakes. . . but if somebody knows where those wires are and which ones are which and could tell me. . . that would make things a whole lot faster. Thanks.

there should be a plug under the dash for a brake controller. Mine has it in the area underneath the radio. I bought a prodigy controller with the pigtail that plugged right in. I don't know if it is part of a tow package, but i don't think so.

Had mine installed, so can't help there. I am very happy with my prodigy controller and would highly recommend to anyone in the market.

the plug is right of steering column kind of behind radio,if you don't have the plug can get it at dealer less than $10 and wire to controller

Rock and roll guys thanks. Now all I got to do is put the standard 7 or 8 pin connector back on the hitch.

A little late but I too recommend that Prodigy controller. I just got a new one under the lifetime warranty. So far best money I spent.
Hiflyer Do you have the one with the connector on the hitch with the bracket or are you fabbing up something?

Andrew (Aklim) took this picture for me last year to help me find my plug.

This is viewed from the drivers side floorboard, looking towards the center dash area under the climate controls.

I purchased a Ford dedicated harness at a local trailer shop, clipped the Prodigy end of the plug from the wire bundle that came with my Prodigy, and spliced it onto my newly purchased Ford harness.

I see you have a six speed and thought I would share a different (to me anyway) way to wire the exhaust brake. Swamps website has a "HOW TO & FAQ" section and instructions are under there with a wiring diagram. It has a position for always on, off, or on with brake peddle applied. I plan on doing this one of these weekends and thought I would share.

That picture should help. Hopefully the 6 speed is the same as the auto.

I went looking again. . . I found where you guys are looking the same looking wires. . . just no connector on them. they have the customer access tag on them. . . and they were just tied up there. Now I have seen the same wires up by the fuse box under the hood. Now so we're on the same page. . . . This is trailor brake wires I think some of us might be confusing exhaust brake. Where can i get the prodigy controller? Can I get one at a store?

Sorry, had nothing to do with trailer brake. Just thought I would share to someone looking for more braking power. All large RV stores should carry Prodigy brand controllers.

Check going up the wires and see if there is a plug on it as I think thats how mine were. I bought my controller here http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm/Outdoor-and-RV-Accessories/Tow-Center-Of-America/Hitching--Towing/Prodigy-Brake-Control/skunum=20535 . There could be some place local to you that might be cheaper, not sure local guy here wanted almost $200 for it. You may also want to get the wire harness for the controller, if you find the plug.
