Thanks for that blow up Mil1ion. But I know what control valve I have. My trouble is trying to figure out which of the two cylinders that I have go on a 73 highboy. I am converting a manual steer to stock power steering. I bought two steering cylinders for cores from salvage yards, but they are not the same length. (They were represented as cylinders for a 73 highboy) So now, before I send the things off to get rebuilt, I want to know which one is correct. One is 9 inches weld to weld on tube, and the other is 12 inches weld to weld. There was not a ford number stamped on these, they originally had a sticker. Any help would be great.
Yeah, the cylinder ram. Sorry I didn't clarify that. The cylinder ram outer tube has a "ball joint" welded to it on one end, and the other end contains the ram seal and the two steering line ports. The rebuilders are telling me that the critical distance that I need to know is that distance between welds. From what I am being told, garrison made a couple of different rams. One fit F100's and the other fit the F250's up to serial number T80,001. After that, Ford switched to the bendix system (which by the way, I am being told that the bendix ram will not interchange with the older garrison ram). So, before I spend $250 to have the cylinder rebuilt, I would like to know which one I need to rebuild.
Yep, thats the part number that I came up with in my research. The F100 number I came up with is D3TZ-3A540-C. Problem is there is no number on these rams, so I don't know which one is which.
