I am trying to do a rear disc conversion on my 76 F100 2wd, I got all the parts from a Lincoln Mark V, the problem that I have right now is that I can not find a rotor that will fit over the flange of the axle. Does any one knows one rotors that will fit over the flange and will have the 5 on 5.5, or will I have to either reduce the diameter of the axle or increase the inside diameter of the rotor, and which one is preferable.
I assume this is a 9" Ford rear. I would start by turning down the axle flanges. You should be able to remove .125 with no trouble. This would give you an additional .250 clearance total. If needed then clean up in inside of the rotors .050 to .060. I have done this on some later model 9" rear ends. If that's not enough, you may have to spring for aftermarket axles.
