my trucks giving the code "P1661 Output circuit check signal low"
whats that mean? any help would be GREAT... still can't get this thing too run..
dang near making me want too go chevy.. my '73 highboy never had a single problem..
Are the batteries charged up?
The following is from the factory repiar manual. There are further tests but you will need some specialized equipment ie. a breakout box. You may need to go to the dealship to get more diagnostics. PM your email address I will send the rest of the procedure.
DTC 1661 indicates that the output circuit check is low.
Possible causes:
Low battery voltage
Circuit failure
Faulty powertrain control module (PCM)
Perform charging system and battery tests.
If I remember correctly you said before that you had an Edge downloader. Have you tried putting the programming back to stock yet? Try charging your batteries and going back to stock programming and see what happens. I have heard of many people having problems with Edge products.
Oh yeah, don't give up on your truck. With all of the knowledgeable people here willing to help you will get it running again.
well, the batterys ARE dead.. at least they where.. but I was getting that code about a week ago with the batt. fully charged.. and I've tried too put it back too stock, but no luck.. I also put in a new cps but it didn't do a thing..
and my e-mail is steerboy89----@---hotmail.com
Tried to send you some info, your email address won't work.
Did you replace the batteries?
Did you clear the code from the dead battery condition.you mentioned. If not it will show up every time you scan the truck.
If the batteries are bad the Edge programmer may not work right when tring to return to stock.
for my e-mail remove the dashes.. keep spammers at bay that way.. the batt. where/are good.. just left the dome light on.. (oops) and yeah, cleared the code... and I turned the truck too stock before the batt. went dead..
ok, the problem is NOT with the computer.. buddy let me borrow his spare and it still won't fire.. I'm getting fuel too the filter.. I know that much.. but alas, it gets dark too early now.. buddy of mine is coming over tomorrow while I'm at work too look it over (he went too lima) anything he should be looking for/at?
thanks
I swapped my IDM with a buddys, and no start.. but I FINALLY got it to run today.. unplugged a sensor on the back of the oil resivoir (guy from a ford dealer said too do it) and then it started back up right off the bat... plugged it back in, and it STILL started.. so I guess I'll see if it still starts in the moring. (loose con. maybe?) or if not, a bad sensor.. I'd tell ya' what one it was, but I've done forgot.. it's been a LONG week/day..
ICP sensor will keep it from starting and then the truck will start if you unplug the ICP sensor. It is on the driver's side of the front of the head behind the HPOP oil reservoir. Make sure the IPR sensor has the little tin nut tight on it but don't over-tighten it. It is behind the HPOP reservoir, too down low in the front of the valley, in front of and almost under the fuel filter canister.
