Alberta royalty review.
#16
You seem to get what I am getting at. Welders spooling up half way through a job to move up the road for $10/hr more. I am not saying a royalty review isn't needed if done in a way that is fair to everybody involved, including the operators. As the guy in charge of cost control at the rig I know for a fact that a 20% increase in operating expense will make a lot of gas wells uneconomical for several years to come. This will hurt the shallow gas market south and east of Red Deer the most. It will have the least effect on the areas west of Calgary up the Foothills to RMH, Drayton Valley, Edson, Hinton, Grande Cache, and Grande Prairie. Don't fool yourself it will still have a devastating effect on these communities.
