Thanks, bigred... If I can talk to the station owner, I'll check it out with him. I know that none of the "cashiers" will probably even understand the question.
UPDATE... after my trip today, i'm still experiencing the surging, and that is with having traveled over 90 miles of rough-and-hilly-and-very curvy country roads that generated lots of slosh potentail in the tank. I'm getting a lot closer to planning on dropping the tank.
Well, I've filled up again with 26 gallons of B20, did not drop the tank to clean it out, and everything is running great! I guess I really did finally "burn up" all the gunk that the B20 was cleaning out of my system. The weekend got sort of wierd, so I never did end up checking my fuel pressure again. Will do that in a couple of days and make one last filter element change if I really need to.
Still waiting for more details from you, Phydeaux.
I have been running B20 exclusively for about 5 months. I've changed my fuel filter once, and will do it again with the next oil change. I've had no issues whatsoever.
F250_ , please keep an eye on your pyrometer as you make the change-over and post what you find. I am realizing a net drop in EGTs of about 50 -100 degrees across the RPM range since I made the change to B20.
Coupled with the 5' exhaust, I have difficulty getting EGTs to exceed 900*,
on B20, and my temps are normal at idle, etc. so I'm confident the gauge is working properly. Its not a bad problem to have, I'm just suggesting to eyeball the gauge and update any similar findings you experience.
I would love to be able to report pyro numbers, but I'm not running any extra gauges yet. I have an eletric fuel pressure gauge I'm going to install soon, and more will follow that, but the only gauges I have right now are the stock "stupid" gauges. Maybe when I get all gauged up I can do what's called a "reverse" trial by switching back to full dino for a month or so.
What you're observing in relation to pyro temp is consistent with two things....
1) what I've heard from others who have switched, and
2) the fact that bioD has a lower Btu value than pure dinoD.
I am thinking about running the BioD in my 7.3 idi over the next few weeks but I am not sure if my old truck will take that kind of cleaning....I am thinking of running crude peanut oil also....any suggestions besides change the filter???
No BioD in my area so I have to wait to get to Bham area to get some....or over north of Eufala....that sucks!!!! I do have peanut oil available....
