08 F350; DRW; 8' Bed; 4x4 off road pkg; Torqshift; 4.10LS; wide track front axle; LT245/75R17E BSW AT; rear camera; Tail gate step; Dark shadow Gray; Lariat
Like the turning of the wide track front and the looks. The view with the new mirrors is one of the best points IMHO. Now to get used to those wide hips....
Drove a GMC3500 dually Saturday along with the truck I purchased today. The rear bed was just too high; the simulators are not to my taste (to put it politely); the relationship of the tires to the wheel well openings looks ... well not to my taste again. The thing ran very well though. I liked the interior, etc. It rode rougher than the F-350. I drove them both the same path with some parking lot parking and tight turning, etc.
So I guess it is clear which I prefer. Now if the memory option just included the climate and radio settings..... gee, I am the only one driving it anyway!
I had to add fuel to my 06 before driving the about 40 miles to the dealer after removing my fold-a-cover; fifth wheel hitch; etc. at the house, so I added $10 and inadvertantly reset the MPG for that tank (which was indicating 17 MPG before I reset it). It was at 22.2 MPG when I arrived at the dealer with 55 to 70 MPH traffic. I reset the 08 prior to leaving the dealer; it was 15.2 MPG when I got home. I was expecting less from all the reports, the dually, and the lower gears; time will tell.
So anyway another happy 6.0 owner is now a happy 6.4 owner. My 06 was one of the best trucks I've owned but our RV upgrade required a truck upgrade.
bnmccoy,
Ditto on the congrats. I just got my 08 F350 a couple of weeks ago, and since this is the first DRW truck I've had in about 20 years, I decided to check the air pressure at my home shop yesterday. Glad I did, because who ever mounted the rear duals didn't stagger the valve stems properly...I pulled off the outside tires on both sides and aligned the stems, and found low air pressure all around.
Just a tip for those who might be new to the dual rear wheel trucks!

I have the same set up, On the hiway I hit reset mpg, I was pleased with the 14-15 range then all the sudden about 20 miles down the road BAM 12.4 stayed there eversince. 525 miles on it now. I had my choice too, I passed on the Chevy, looks goofy, tires and wheel well don't match, crappy steel wheels, hard to find anything other than extended cabs. As far as overall, this truck is in a class by itself, the best so far. Mileage aint everything, we all could drive rice burners.
I have build #2 and did not get the camera, pissed me right off, no one at the dealer can tell me why. looks like std equipment, the window stickers don't add for it on the ones I've seen so far.

It was on my sticker at $470; the wide track monobeam extended front axle is $470 list too.
I wonder about the stickers though. There is one nearby with the wide track front and the 'tow boss' option; also the chrome pkg. But there was no 'tow command' or trailer brake controller listed. The order guide says the 'tow command' option is required for the 'tow boss' option. Halfway thinking of driving there just to check out.

I'm new to dually. The valve stems for the inside tires are just back behind the outside valve stems or same opening if that makes sense; is that where they should be?
I just need to put a quick connect on my long tire chuck now. Will check pressures Saturday morning when it is cool and no hurry to head for work.

yea, it is at 10.6 mpg currently by the display; it also started a regen while in idle last night w/ 98 miles on the odometer
Never the less, I knew all the bad reports on fuel economy prior to purchase, so I'll just hope it gets better with some time and a real workout towing.
Can't wait to get some miles on her so I can see how she pulls our fiver which is a little shy of 14,000 lbs. actual weight.

Bob,
That's probably fine; I just prefer that the valve stems be 180 degrees apart. My inside stems were not even lined up with the "windows" in the rims!
Enjoy!

Sounds like you have the same towing situation I have. I elected to go for the V10 - 12-13+ MPG empty,@ 650 miles on the clock, about 9 towing - about the same as the '05 F250 I traded in. So woud you say that fuel wise we are about on par? (Course you still have that 193 Ft.Lb. torque advantage, {and the $6k premium that goes with it}).
Anyway - happy camping, and enjoy the new truck smell.......
..........Can you tell me what wide track front means? .........
It is available on Job 2 F350 DRW trucks; basically the front two wheels stick out further just like on the F-450. The fenders have the same extensions as the F-450 and a plastic piece on the outside edge of the bumper; also mud or fender flaps on the front (maybe the mud will stay of the tubular steps now?) It will turn tighter with the front wheels sticking out further.
