ok i want an 03 reg 6.0 i jus dont no if an auto or manual would be better want it for raceing, daily driver, fuel millage, and the occational tow, witch would be better and witch would hold up better to a custom tuned sct and jus your simple bolt on mods
Exactly what brickie said. My 6sp does excellent on mileage when I keep the rpms very low. Before my Edge though I had some turbo lag and it is a long throw between gears. But it has performed flawlessly. I'm surprised you can even find a 6sp, had to order mine.
I agree with the previous posts. Can't race with the 6 speed. I have one and it just takes too long between gears, and your boost pressure drops too low.. once you get in a high gear and put your foot in it, the thing will run though!
The manual would be best for big towing and better overall mpg. The auto excels as a daily driver or racer and is much easier to find. In fact, finding a needle in a haystack might be easier than finding a 6 speed manual.
Good luck either way
Manual is typically always faster than auto as far as cars go and much more relaible. However the guys above are right about the throw and I doubt they make a short shifter for a PSD.
