I bought this new less than 8 months ago. And pinging has been going on for longer than that...So i'm thinkin what mustang's thinkin...little or no vacuum. Any other possibilities
On the selenoid for the EGR, there are two vacuum hoses that run out. A green one which i believe goes to EGR. Where does the black one go to? Does it go to the coffee canister? I will replace these two hoses tomorrow so any help will do. THanks a bunch
Musclestang, the cars did not use knock sensors, but the truck 5.0's always used a knock sensor, regardless of whether it was mass air or speed density.
Now what you can do is momentarily hook up manifold vacuum to the EGR valve to verify that the valve is actually opening. On my truck, the EGR likes to get stuck, and usually applying full manifold vacuum will pop it free. Then I just hook it up like normal again.

As this was the first time I had ever done the self tests...I did them wrong. After doing them right, my KOEO System Pass and KOER System Pass. I decided to look at vacuum hoses...And ended up replacing all of them since I had time to do so. My fuel pressure regulator hose than runs to intake had a hole in it. It runs a whole lot better.
