trans question

Do the c6 tranny in highboys have a short tailshaft or long tailshaft? I was thinking of tossing in a good 302/c6 that i have lying around(long tail shaft) so i could still use the truck while i rebuild the motor. I know you need different motormount stands and the rest of the auto junk and i have most of it already too.

I only ask because I haven't found an auto to look at..

They aren't all the same short tailshaft, but the 2wd tailshaft is much longer than any 4wd assembly.

If you are mechanically inclined, you can take the 302 trans apart, and swap in the short tailshaft of the other transmission. There is no special tools needed to swap the stuff out, you are not digging into any of the assemblies. You must keep everything spotlessly clean, and as you dissasemble, lay things out the exact way they went in. An ATSG manual wont hurt either.
