brake light on

I replaced my brake booster and master cylinder... My brake light is still on...Dennis told me I needed the number 13 linkage thing but I have the 23 could that be why its still on? When I bought it all it came with was the booster and cylinder it didnt come with that linkage piece and mount...Although the light is on my brakes are damn good except they need bled out a bit...Could It be that valve piece that the lines go to after they leave the master cylinder? Anyone know what its called? And also is there any difference in that valve from manual to power brakes? That valve is origional on the truck... All the wheel cylinders have been changed...So Im leaning toward a bad valve thing or just the idiod light is an idiot. Thanks for the help.... And I have the fun of putting a new gas tank sending unit in it tomorrow...(Got tired of it always saying I got 1/4 tank of gas)

anybody have any idea why my brake light is staying on?? WOuld it be because they need bled out? I got new brakes and master cylinder and booster... Would I be because my truck origionally didnt have power brakes? Do I need a new proportining valve? Or is it just on for no reason, because my brakes seem to work great.

Remind me of what you have done again

There are 2 switches when one has cruise control.

One for cruise shut off (normally the brake switch without cruise)

One for brake lights located on the nub of brake pedal where it connects to the push rod

Sorry Dennis I am talking about the idiot light... Im wondering why its on. Can I check to see if its just faulty or is there something wrong with my brakes?

isnt there an electrical plug on the proportioning valve, maybe its unplugged or the valve got tripped (pushed too far down with the pedal) when you were bleeding, there is a way to recenter it, i just cant remember how

It could be the proportioning valve is stuck. In some cases bleeding the brakes will correct it. Do a manual bleed, front and /or back. If it's stuck should reset during the bleed process. The prop valves should be the same between the power and manual brakes. If you unplug the wires to it the light should go out. if tripped. But if your MC is not in the correct position or leaking will cause the light to come on.

Normally to reset the warning light you need to slightly blleed the opposite circuit that
trggered the light.

Sometimes just pressing real hard on the pedal will re-center it.
