f150 pulling explorer

I need to pull my explorer (2wd) across the country with my f150 4x4. Any suggestions on how to do this safely? Would a standard towbar be ok?

thanks for your replies.

If you used a towbar you would probably want to disconnect the rear driveshaft at the very least. I dont really think it would be safe to do so though. I would reccomend a trailer. I towed a 94 explorer to nashville, 500mi each way with my 98 chevy half-ton, on a trailer. The truck didnt like it much, but it did the job.

Look into shipping it, might be cheaper than you think. That is a long haul pulling something.

Im no expert at all on this but i would imagine one of those small trailers that hold the front wheels might be preferable. And disconnecting the drive shaft sounds like a good idea.

If you know anybody who has or can rent a tow dolly, put the rear wheels on the trailer that way you dont need to disconnect anything.

It would be hard to ensure the front wheels were perfectly straight and a tiny bit off would cause handling issues and ruin the tires on that long of a haul.

Drop the driveshaft & go. Your truck will be fine.
