V-5 rated bumper

I just installed a newer 80s early 90s ford rear bumper, It has a decal that reads V-5 rated 8,000 lbs. I had to drill new holes but thats about it to install. Do I require a hitch bolted to the chass to pull a trailer, or can I use this bumper thats very well grounded to the chass?

I don't trust bumper hitches for anything more than a light duty trash trailer. If you jam on the breaks, you can bend the bumper.
