windows rattle when theyre halfway or more down. would this be the felt lined track, or the anti rattle deal, which is quite a bit more? they roll up n down fine, seal fine...
Mine is the no vent window(wing window) style and with the age of bII's I would safely say it wouldn't hurt to change the tracks. Do you get any wind noise with the windows all the way up?
not a whole lot, dont feel any drafts. lmc light trucks has both the lined tracks and the anti rattle deal. though that looks like it just fits on the bottom of the window, either side if the door
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you-I had to go look at my LMC catalog. You should probably replace the window sweeps (window anti-rattle kit) along with the felt lined glass runs. The window sweeps are probably worn, dried out, and hardened. If you are only going to replace one or the other, do the sweeps first to stop the rattling.
My shop manual says to run the window all the way down, then pull up to unsnap and remove the sweeps from the door. Pposition the new inside sweep to the inner door panel and snap it down into place then do the same with the outer panel. It doesn't say about the channel felts and I don't know because I did a frame up re-build on mine and put new glass in. You might be able to get more info from a local autoglass shop.
the haynes manual says you have to drill out the rivets holding the glass bottom thingy in place to remove the glass, then replace them with such and such size screws... trying to avoid that if i can, but may not be able to, seeing how things are put together on newer cars today. had an older (79) gmc, all you did was remove the wing window suppourt, then slide the glass forward and up... out she comes. good luck doing it that way now a days
If you have a healthy sized pop-rivet gun you can re- rivet them instead of putting the screws in. Also be careful drilling out the old ones. it's easy to damage the plastic washer/sleeves.
