front axle problems in reverse

1996 F250 4X4 7.3

the front axel is fine in drive but trying to reverse it grabs to the point of stoping. no other problems i can think of. and i belive its a dana 44. any help would be great.

Does this happen when you are turning hard R or L or both? When in 4x4 only?

With a 7.3 I would think it was probably a Dana 60.
