automatic shifter linkage cable.

The linkage that attaches to the tranny right by the 'range selector' broke today while replacing my range selector. The black plastic peice broke, the rod came out and the cable inside was bent a little. I got the rod back in, and straightened it out, taped around the plastic and used zip straps to try to reinforce the hold.
Seriously unhappy with this solution, I wonder if I have to replace the whole cable... I'm assuming this is all one peice(from the shifter to the tranny). Is there any other way to replace this linkage at the end of the cable? And does anyone know if I can get it at anywhere aside from ford?

Not that I know of. You'll need to replace the entine cable.
