Ummm, bro, what are you talking about? Tackled what job? Looking to do what to the Ex? Brand of what? Amount of what? Install what? Best place to buy what?
Color me confused because I have no clue what you're talking about, or what you've read a lot about on this forum.
Also, did you mean a quieter Excursion, in the title of your thread?

I used Dynomat on every panel including the roof and floor. Now it sounds quieter than a Bently.
I have seen a lot of folks using a "B-quiet" product that is supposed to be a little cheaper than the Dynomat, and the guys who have installed it says it does an outstanding job.
I have a buddy who just did this to his Lightning. He pulled everything but the dash (including the door panels) and used dynomat on the whole interior.
About the only thing he needed to be careful about was making sure he didn't cover over the cabin filter. A lot of guys who had already done this to their L's said they had trouble closing their doors because it created too good of a seal.
It took him several days to do the job. I'd hate to think how long it would take to do the interior of an Excursion...or how much it would cost for the materials!!
If you decide to tackle the job, take pictures and post 'em up for us to see!
Go to your local home improvement store and get the 4" wide (sometimes wider) gutter tape. It is sticky as all get out but will help kill noise.
I used it all through the back of mine to reduce the Banks sounds for my wife. I still have yet to do the doors.
This stuff was recommended to me by the local car audio store. They use it in their cars because it is so much cheaper (and just as effective they claim) as Dynomat. I don;t think it would be as effective but it certainly is a great deal.
Only real problem is that it will add some weight to your truck...maybe a couplehundreds pounds when you do the whole thing.
Thanks guys for the comments and tips on the "gutter tape" idea. I'm kinda leaning towards the "B-Quiet" product as it seems to be great reviews and is cheaper than "Dynomat". I'm thinking 200 ft2 should do it? Do you all think is about right? Thanks again.................
200 sqft will not be enough if you're going to do the entire interior. I know of several guys who have started with 100 sqft for the interior of a crew cab and ended up convinced that 150 sqft is more like the real requirements. Part of the reasons is that they have done some 'double-layering" around particularly noisy regions near the firewall and drive train path.
Boy..........................this is gonna get expensive fast!!
Think I may do it in stages and do the rear up to the 2nd seat frist and then tackle the front! Probably wont be doing the roof though.......headliner tooooo big! Mainly looking to do floors, doors and cargo area side walls. Should help alot? I will definatly take pictures and post my results. still like to hear from someone thats done an EX???????????????
