Im looking to put a keypadon my door like some of the f150s have stock. I found a used handle assembly with the keypad and the wire harness for sale. Will That plug into my 07 f150 that just has a regular handle?????
Thanks
did your truck come with a keyless entry code? Mine came with the code and no keyless entry. I gave my vin to yk2 ford parts and they told me it would work. I posted all the info on what I did when the search is enabled again I will post it for you
My XLT did not come with a keypad, but it was pre wired for one. I just plugged it in and punched in the code from my card and it works. If you have the plastic code card in the owners manual case then that is a good indicator that it might work. If your truck is an XL or does not have power locks then you may have a diffenrent wiring harness and therefore may not be able to add one. If you take your door panel off you can see the plug in there, its round with four pins and gray and green in color. It will be about 10 inches below the where the door lock portrudes out of the top of the door panel. Even if you have this plug I wont guarentee that your computer is capable of this feature.
I know for a fact that if you have an XLT and the plastic code card, the odds are very good that doing this is just plug and play. On the XL you may just be out of luck. Sorry.
Ford used to sell a stick on keypad (wireless) that you could program to work, but when I tried to buy one for my Expedition 3 dealers told me they are no longer available. I wonder if any aftermarkets are available ?
I saw the stick-on keypad advertised last month for $99 in a Ford mailer. Put one on the wife's Tribute earlier this year.
If you can get the keypad in the door handle for a comparable price I would go that route. The stick-on pad will stick out just a little bit where as the keypad in handle will look cleaner.
I thought it was no longer available also. It is a pain in the rear to find it online. You have to type in just the correct words in the search engine.
A buddy of mine put the stick-on pad on his '03 SCREW and it worked fine. He got it at our local dealer for less than $100. It was a 15 minute job to completion. The pad was in a display case in the parts dept.
Good luck. I have the keypad on my '06 SCREW and use it daily. I hate having keys with me in the woods, swamps or on the boat to lose.
