7.3 Turbo Mod

Do the turbo's for the 7.3 from the after market guys all have waste gates? I heard the factory one didn't?

Does any one know how these Evolution waste gates work? It looks like they just use spring pressure and not intake pressure to open and close.

the factory is wastegated, my ats is also, early ats were not, the banks I have seen are, dont know about any others

the older banks units are non wastegated.
and the turbo used on the international version of the 7.3 in non wastegated also.

The Evolution has a spring that presets the max intake manifold boost pressure.
When the max pressure is reached, it bleeds intake manifold pressure off to the preset level.

Evolution Waste Gate

That is just what I wanted to know. so I can use the Evolution to control boost pressure by setting it to bleed off at at a certain psi.

that will make my installation (on boat engine) a lot easier.
