For the guys that are running the Flowmaster Cat Back kits, whick kit are you running? The 17229 has a 2 piece tail pipe. The 17345 has a 1 piece tail pipe and a chrome tip. I called Flowmaster for more info as to why 2 diffrent kits {ie.tail pipes} but didn't get a clear answer. Which one did you choose and why. I know I can just have a FM70 welded in but I want to keep my stock setup incase I don't like the sound.
Thanks
I run the single tailpipe set up. I did not like the split pipe set up. If I am not mistaken, the split pipe set up requires you to remove the spare tire.
Boxcar, The 2 piece tail pipe you have to remove the spare just for installation right, not permently? Sounds like the 17345 is the easier of the 2 to install.
Thanks Boxcar. Like I said in my first post, they weren't very helpful when I called them about the 2 different kits. In fact, he didn't mention anything about the spare.

I'm looking at the same thing for my 05 and flowmaster only has one with a FM70. I don't want to cut mine up either so I'm going to get the kit from Jegs or Summit.
Gt, I hear ya on cutting up the stock stuff. I'm also looking at a Magnaflow cat back. I nicer setup than the Flowmaster, welded hangers, SS and of course more $$$$.
I know the FM50's are a little cheaper but the FM70 alone at Summit is $178. The entire catback is $309 at Jegs with free shipping. I'll install for free, a new muffler would cost to be installed at a shop and then taken off if I don't like and that would easily exceed the $300 total for the entire catback. No brainer for me on this. Magnaflow doens't make one for the 05+ yet. Are the magnaflows straight through or baffled?
I think the Magnaflow are a straight through design. I plan on calling tomorrow. Summit was cheapest on the 2 Flowmaster kits, AutoAnything was cheapest on the Magnaflow.
$113 for a FM 70 Series BB2 3"in/3"Out add another $12 or $13 for S&H.
The bends on the stock system are decent and the tubing is good and thick. Its stainless and the hangers are decent. Just installing the muffler on the stock sytem is good and cheap. If you don't like the sound you can have the stock muffler put on. Just my $.02.
I'm sure the FM 70 will have a better sound than any Magnaflow sytem.
There are some sound samples on Flowmasters site for a comparision, not V10 sounds however should help a little. A single 3" in the stock location is one of the quietest places for a exaust system.
With whatever you decide on post some sounds if you can.

Jegs willl price match and usually cheaper/free shipping. Call them and give the Summit's price and the will match and see if the overall price is cheaper.
