Factory Step Bars

I am looking for a new left side step bar for my supercab, I checked direct ford parts, and they want $300 for just one of the steps. Does anyone have any ideas where I might find them cheaper? I will just buy a set of aftermarkets if I have to pay that for one new one...

About the only place I could think of other than a Ford dealer would be a junk yard. I've never had any luck finding wrecked Super Duties around here though (they tend to fix them rather than scrapping).

If you do decide to go aftermarket, I have a set of Westin Platinum Wheel to Wheel step bars that I am selling in the classified section here.

If you are interested send me a PM.

I have never had much luck finding anything in junkyards around here, but I will try that route as well.

Just be aware that there are two different diameters of step bars available, 4" and 5". Plus the chrome or black option, plus the cab length model. Ends up being a whole bunch of possible part numbers.

I know because I bought a set for my truck last month. I think the 5" diameter looks better on the SD than the smaller 4".

I got a set of chrome 5" dia for a SC for $225 plus shipping. I can get you the dealer contact if anyone is interested. It was an eBay dealer.

There are also apparently 2 separate types available for each model; Back in January, when I bought my truck, I asked at a dealer for steps; the first quote was for $800 EACH for the steps, and then another (more knowledgeable) salesman showed me a set for $275 for the pair. Guess which one I bought?

I'm a little far away for part numbers, though...

Was the $800 for running board style? If that was for step bars then that's outrageous. List price for the 5", chrome, SC length, is $475 IIRC.

As I recall, that was for the step bars. I was so shocked I forgot to be outraged. That's why I talked to the second person.

Was a little concerned, too... I'm short enough that steps of some kind are required to get into the truck.

Well I'm all for the cheapest alternative, I just got my truck in june and I sure hate to spend all this money on it. No one else even notices, but I know its there, and it bothers me to no end. I'm tempted to just order Harley headlights and call it a day...
