2008 Brake Controller

I found an 08 F250 setup the way I want, but it doesnt have the tow command system in it. Can I pull the brake controller out of my F150 and plug it right into the new F250?

Yes you can, you may need a different wiring harness though (should only cost $15 or so). However, the integrated trailer brake controller is a much nicer unit.

The dealer seemed slightly confused about adding the integrated setup to an existing truck. Can it be done? Any idea what it costs? Id rather have the factory setup but for some reason this truck was ordered without it...

Yes it can be done. They have to swap out the master cylinder, add the brake controller, and update the computer to tell it the controller is installed. I know there was a kit for the 05-07 trucks that came with the master cylinder and controller, haven't heard if it's the same kit for the 08 or if there is a new one.

Not sure why someone would do that on an '08. Personal choice I guess, but the less screwing around they do to my brand new vehicle the better I like it. I would just order an '08 with the equipment I wanted. If you've worked out a deal with that dealership, just tell them you want the same deal but you want to special order. Just so long as you can handle the 8-10 week wait.

Just talked to 2 different dealers, $1200 parts + labor to add all the stuff needed for a factory controller install. I think Ill skip that...! Both said my controller should plug right into the under dash connector without any other parts.
