Alright guys, This is somewhat of a different question, but its been bothering me.... So Ive driven alot of 6.0s over the last couple years, not many 03s, but alot of 04-07s, Every single one I drive feels like a complete dog compared to mine, I drove an 07 a while back that had around 6k on it, it felt like a slug.... drove an 04 the other weekend with about 70k on it, it felt gutless too, and many others....... I really dont get it, do some 6.0s just run better than others?? Cus thats really how it seems. I have a couple simple mods, zoodad, power elbow, afe filter, and straight exhaust, but I also have 35 inch tires. But even before these mods my truck seemed to have more "get up" than others. I also drove a 2002 7.3 the other day.....wow, lots of noise but it didnt go anywhere.... Anyway, what do you guys think, am I just nuts?
they all run different because of they have all had different owners. bad mainainence of a truck will cause an injector to be lazy and or weak which will kill power, he turbo could be sticking or stuck, fuel pressure and or quality, the list goes on. there are a number of things that can cause a lack thereof within power/sotp feel.
As Storm said, it won't hurt anything, except your wallet. It can only boost the cetane level so much. After going above the recommended level on the jug, it doesn't hurt anything, but you also do not gain anything.
The one time I've heard anyone recommend purposefully putting too much DK in is when you accidentally added a small amount of gasoline to your tank before realizing what you were doing. Adding the extra DK will give you added lubricity to ease the effects of the gasoline going through the injectors. However, it is strongly recommended you attempt to get rid of as much of the gasoline you can (or dilute it heavily with diesel) before adding the DK and running it through.
Thanks for the replys guys. I definatly drive mine hard, I hardly ever baby it. I get the sence that it doenst like being babied. Plus Ive always been told to drive it hard, so I do.......
yes they are all different, none seem exactlly the same, but your has the VGT learn and will learn how you drive it, so if the other truck owners do not run it WOT like you do, it will not boost the way you are used to unless you cleared the KAM and releared it yourself..Some are faster and alot faster than others I drive, some in stock for seem like the have about 40-50HP more than the next..but they are way faster than a gasser w/ a trailer..
as far as no issues, it is partially due to you habits, the ones that put around get all carboned up in the intake and make the EGR and VGT stick..
I have a strong 6.0 in my 04. It doesn't have many mods. The only one is a Hypertech 3 stage tuner. It gives 50,80,& 100 extra hp. I use the stage one 50hp setting most of the time. I get 20 mpg highway & 16 city with it.

that si good mileage. short box and reg cab and flat terrain??
No its a crew cab short bed 4x2. I got the 20mpg on a trip that had half flat interstate across Ark on I40 & the other half going from Little Rock to Shreveport on 2 lane highways in small hills. I've only had the truck 2 months but I really like it. Its fast as hell for a heavy truck.

okay I feel better now. I live in the hilly winndy northeast, colder temps and have a 4x4 CC 8"..so I outweight you by maybe a ton or so at just under 8K on the scales empty.
best yet is 17.6.. ave lately in only 16.7
My 05 was a lot quicker before I got it reflashed. It still has power but nothing like it was. I can still achieve 20-22 MPG if I stay below 2k rpms on the hwy empty/no load. I fell like a grandma driving 60-65 when the speed limit is 70 and everyone is doing 75-80. But getting 20 mpg is possible.
