I have passed over several--well beat up--but still decent trucks that had 352s because I remember what a dog they were relative to gas mileage from the 67 I had as a teenager. But I had a 390 years ago and loved that motor. Havent even driven one for years.
Just curious--what generally is required to turn a 352 into a 390?. Just change pistons and rods? Maybe I am being too quick to pass over the 352 if it could be easily brought up to speed, so to speak

Rotating assembly and a .050" over bore. The 352's bore is 4.00". The 360 and 390 are 4.05". If you just put a 390 crankshaft and rods in a 352, you'd have 380 cubes. That may be just fine for your purposes, but if you want a "real" 390, you need to bore it .050" over while you're at it.
