ok im bout to go off to basic when i get out im gonna have a good bity of money. im already planing a couple thiongs for the truck such as a 2x4-4x4 swap and regear axles. want to give motor a little help what are a few good things i can do.
There are quite a few things that can be done, but I'm gonna need to know how old the engine is. If it's pre-computer, then I'd go offenhauser intake, Four barrell carb, headman headers with a Clifford Performance X-pipe.
If it's a computerized motor, then a cat back and removal of the second Cat helps. I'm finally wrapping up a full rebuild with new Hi performance internals if you want to go big money, but I'd say do one project at a time. Seems like you want to go with 4wd first.
I would look into the 4x2 to 4x4 issue before spending a lot of money on the motor. I've never done it but some folks on this forum say there's a lot more to it than just bolting up the different axle and installing a t-case. Just a word of caution so you don't get disappointed. Most people says its a lot easier to find the 4x4 chassis as then work from there. Your call through. Good luck.
To add to what cowchasinsix said, I just done the 2x4-4x4 swap, and it aint to bad. It's alot easier when you have a complete parts truck to use. When you get to that piont and have any questions let me know!
