I am filling up today, and it was $2.89 when I went by the station yesterday. It went up .30 in the past week and gas is still at $2.59
Same deal here in the West side of Houston. I went fishin this past weekend in Matagorda and on the way there the diesel was typically 2.99-3.09 in the small towns. Guess livin in the burbs has its advantages with fuel prices its just everything else sucks.
i live up in the white mountians..(god's country) we seem to be 15 to 20 cents more then them folks in manchester and concord..(90 miles south of me)they say it has to do with trucking it so far ...
I know we have had millions of posts of the whys and wherefores of fuel pricing. I'm basically a capitalist so I'm not going to whine about profits.
What I want to know is why the diesel price is sky rocketing but the gas price is remaining steady? I just don't get it. There appears to be no rhyme or reason for any of it.
Can of worms? Yeah, but I still don't get the fluctuations.
For what it's worth, these were the prices at the local shop that sits in the middle of nowhere (ie. no city taxes)
Diesel = two weeks ago $2.98 , today $3.21
Gas = last week $2.87 , today $2.89
I was thinking that the refineries must be switching some capacity from #2 to heating oil.
I confess to running the oil furnace a couple times now when the temps were in the high 20's :-)
