drivetrain swap

hi guys i was wondering if a 400M, 4-speed trans and transfer case out of a 1979 f250 will fit in a 1984 f250 and what it takes to make it happen. thanks

Kind of depends on what motor was originally in the 84'.

should be easy if it had a 460.. if not you will need to change your frame towers and engine mounts probably.

I have an 85 F250 that some did that very same thing. But mine was an Auto before. They punched a hole in the fire wall for the clutch pedel linkage. But I have been converting it back to an auto. Form what I have taken apart it seems like it wouldn't be that hard. I am not sure what kind of motor the truck originally had. As long as you have the donor truck to get parts off of you should be ok.

i just did this swap last weekend, you do not have to change the frame mounts if you have a 302 or 351 the only problem i had was accelerator cable i had to make it longer, other than that its straight forward and can even use the 70s motor mounts,if you have any ? let me know
