Has anyone had a problem with the rear glass hatch rubbing and scratching the barn doors? This is my 2nd Ex and have had the same problem with both. the dealer tells me they have never seen this B4. I have seen it twice on both of mine!
Also, while it was in the shop I told them of the rear end clunk when putting in drive and they said there is a TSB saying that is normal. Has anyone heard of that TSB?
Some clear heavy duty tape like they use when after market roof racks are installed will reduce or eliminate the scratching of the paint. Mine is like that, too.
This is an OLD problem with them...
my 02 Ex did it, My 03 Ex did it, and 05 Ex is still too new but expect it to
depending on year model, there is some small rubber nibs that go in the holes on the bottom of the top door, but they kept falling out so I glued them in
On my 02 they kept it a day or two,
added something - fabric or tape or something then painted it....
As far as the scratches go on the dutch, doors, it's due to the rubber strips and bumpers contacting the lower doors when closed.
When my truck was new, I saw this beginning and cut some strips of the clear tape 3M makes to protect against stones chips, etc. Auto body supply shops have it. It's called Scotchguard Protector. The # I have is 84906, which is 6" by 84". It's pricey, but i think well worth it.
I also put some on the front doors where they contact the strips toward the bottom of the windshield. I also used this on the lower rockers of the Cobra to help keep stone chips to a minimum.
Just cut it with scissors to the shape you need and stick on. A word to the wise though...mix up a tiny bit of dish soap..the plain kind without hand moisturizers or the like....in a spray bottle with water. Spray the area where the tape will go...then slide in place and work out all bubbles, etc. This gives you some working time.
