Has anyone replaced their front bumper? I have a 2001 f-250. The chrome is worn of and looks bad. I purchased a new one. I am just wondering if it is a pain to replace or it looks wose than it is. I might have a body guy do it on the side if it is.
I agree! Bumpers on these trucks go on and off VERY easily! I have had the bumpers on and off of my '00, '02, and '06 multiple times each. There are two bolts beside each of the two tow hooks (4 bolts total). When you remove these bolts, I suggest you only completely remove two, until you are ready to drop the bumper. There is a plate with 2 weld-nuts that these bolts go into. There are also two bolts on the sides of the bumpers (one on each side). You can access these from the wheel wells. They work to "level" the end of the bumper. You can pull these first, then pull two of the front bolts (one from each tow hook area). Once ready to drop the bumper, remove the other two bolts. The bumpers are quite light for their size....easily manuevered by one person.
Putting the bumper back on is just as easy, just take your time so that you have a good consistent, clean line across the top from side to side. When replacing the bolts in the wheel well, I usually use a small floor jack with a block of wood to get the alignment just right.
It must be easy. One of they guys on here had his bumper stolen out of his driveway while he slept! He posted pictures of it, but I don't remember his username.

You'll be better off buying an OEM Ford bumper. If you find someone who makes an aftermarket it's probably going to be cheaper quality.
Now that I am siting here thinking I have one more question. What is the process for the fog lights and the plastic on the bumper?
The fog lights are mounted to the back of the bumper with 3 screws. You will have to remove the bumper or at least partially slide it out to get them removed. (If you have a gas engine you might be able to get by w/o this process.) The plastic valence panels on the bumper are held in place by a couple of nuts on each side and then I believe a few more on the back side as well. They also have the snap tabs that snap into the slots in the bumper.
