I need help with my pushrods
I am rebuilding a 390. I bought a new cam, lifters and pushrods. The rockers are new. I held up the pushrods that came out of my engine and compared them with the new ones and I noticed they were a little longer. I measured them and the new ones are .045 longer than what I had. I thought they gave me the wrong ones so I took them back and had them look it up for different years of 390 cars as well as trucks. The longer ones that I have are suppose to be the right ones. They even made some .060 oversized as well. I had a ME66 on my block, so I had the counter guy start with 1966 and work his way up to the 1973 truck that I have. No luck, there were only 2 different size pushrods (Standard) available. Will I bend anything by installing these? I think there is probably a 1/2" of travel in the lifters, so my guess would be that the standard ones would be safe, but I would rather hear it from the pro's to continue on with the rebuild.
