Ok here is my update..
bought the SCT X3 last week..
finally instaled in on Friday ( thanks to Matt)....
Set it on economy Hwy... after I figured out what is going on... here is my result.
Went to El Paso from Abilene.... @ 420 miles... average about 16.5 on the way down... AVERAGE MILE PER HOUR...@ 70???
On the way home I averaged @ 70 .. held it between 73 to 84 the whole way..
almost always over 2K ( RPM).
15.6 was my average..
Odd thing is that my dash gage never changed from 85 to 75...
Bottom line it improved my mileage. still playing with all the settings...
PS I was getting @ 13 on the same trip at the same speed.
sounds good.. I average about 15mpg total city/highway with my 4.5" lift and 35's running Ultra Comp Street..
What settings did matt open up for you in the tune? Most part we disable the adjustable features as we lock them in for each tune base..
WOW that is pretty good.. I am stock height and 285 x 17 tires....
I loaded the Economy Highway tune.... Have not really ran anything else... well the Street tune that comes with the unit for a little.. but most of my time is on the hwy.. Still no thrilled with what I spent vs the return... Not that it is bad, just hoped for more....
still debating selling it and trying something differnt... 15 ish on the hwy is not to impressive when I see others at 17 + OR when I see you with a 5" lift kit and big tires.
Hey don't sell it yet, give it some time. First of all If you do and you get a chip instead, you will be kicking yourself later. . Its just not worth it if you tear up your tranny or lift your heads because you switched just to save an extra couple miles to the gallon, the savings just don't add up!
plus I would talk to matt about it first, did you give him complete info on your truck? Gear ratio, tires, exhaust, ect? It sounds to me that they can really play with the settings on these tuners, and matt has alot of different tunes that might work better for what your looking for.
(by the way, Ive always wondered why people buy these nice, heavy, powerful trucks and then they hope to get the milage of a 4cyl gas engine? Never could figure that one out, If you want milage buy a cheep metro. If you want POWER, buy a sd and throw that milage out the window.)
Don't mean to get anyone worked up, Just throwing in my 2 cents

Give me some specs on your truck.. year, modifications if any.. What tunes do you currently have now?

Not the tuner.. the truck...
As far as your comment.. I agree, but why get 14 /15 mpg when you can have the same truck get 17/20.. I live in TX,, gotta have a big truck.. 3 stall horse trailer needs to be hauled... If i could get a gooseneck on that Solstice I have I would do it... I like the look and style of this truck.. but I put over 30k miles on this truck so far this year...

2005, PSD CC FX4, 285/17 tires.. 4" turbo back exhaust.. Flow thru Cat w/ flow thru muffler.. 3.73 on the gears.. ( from what I can tell off the tag)
Ultra Economy Hwy is the tune name Matt sent me
he also sent me Agressive street, Stock + and a Ultra Tow economy hwy.
I am running the Utlra hwy and did on this trip... have no put the others to the test as of yet.
WOULD love to lift this truck and run some bigger tires... but then I will be down in the 10's...
Don't get me wrong .. it is better,, just need more to justify keeping the truck since I drive so much... 3 bucks a gallon and @ 430 miles to a tank ... well that is not a good combo... ( yes I fill it up to the cap.. So i can stuff @ 30 gallons in it..)
I don't see anything that would hinder your mileage.. You also got to remember I'm pulling 15 empty.. If I put your trailer on my back it'd kill me.. severely.. Let me talk with matt and see if anything was done different..
well i'm lifted on 35's and was averaging 10 mpg with stock tuning, and after running spartan aggressive and ultra comp files, i am seeing more like 16 mpg !! and i drive like an a-hole !! i cant wait to run one of their economy tunes for the trip to NC in nov.
Try installing a EGR Delete or Sneaky pipe. I was getting 10.5 before now 12.0 around town. I have 325 65 R18 Toyo's with a level kit. Cat back 4". I am planning on the SCT programmer next. Do I need to install ARP head studs with the SCT tuner? I had the Edge Juice on my last truck (2004) and fried the motor (white smoke) and tranny.
call matt at spartan, he will set you up with a safe tuner for you truck. everything else out there isnt worth even looking at. But matt can tell you whats safe for your truck and what is too hot for it.
We can get you files that are perfectly safe on stock head bolts. I ran my 06 tuned for all but 10k of the 58k I had on it with stock bolts. PM me if you have any specific questions.

I live in Abilene.. In Austin all the time .. part of my area...
I was empty... unless you count my dog in the back.
Drove it to work today at 70 MPH...@ 20 miles... ave 17. felt like I was sitting still...
