I have posted adds on this site to sell a truck and some parts. The next day I got contacted by an individual who made an offer and we agreed on price and shipping. After about 3 weeks of this guy jerking me around he finaly send me a check, I go to the bank to cash it and it is a counterfeit. Now he is e-mailing me saying Im trying to run off with his money. I still have my truck and all keys and title so there is no way he got anything from me. Has anyone else had this problem trying to sell on the internet and if so what was the outcome? Thanks.
this is not uncommon...I have sold parts on this site, but I do it through Ebay and Paypal, that way there is protection for both parties...checks are a thing of the past.
Good luck in the future...and remember most people are generally good.
If he's still in contact with you, take the check & emails to the police. Let them track this guy down & handle it. He may be scamming somebody else as we speak.
He is still in contact with me but he uses 3 different e-mails. The bank said they are trying to find him but they realy didnt seem to conserned. They didnt contact the police or even get my contact info.
Notify the police and the FBI. The FBI has department for scams like this. I had someone try to give me $5000 for a truck I was selling for $1500 and he wanted me to send him the difference. I reported it but since the guy claimed to be in Canada, they couldn't do anything about it. The bank didn't lose any money and don't care if this guy gets caught or not.
A one on one meeting will clear things up!!! Are you sure this ain't the guy down here in Florida who is making his own money? He calls it the United states private dollar, He says that the federal reserve is a corrupt monopoly and he should be able to make his own money since he is backing it with silver!! Everybody knows that the federal reserve isn't federal right? it is a private bank not connected to the government in any way!!! I think this guy may have a point but he is a maniac they told him he couldn't make the U.S. Private dollar, So he started printing off regular U.S. currency!!
(counterfeit!!) All the checks he was paying his employees with are considered worthless and no banks will cash them as per treasury department. They put him in jail for the private dollars he was spending all over town, then he got out and did the counterfiets, and I haven't heard anything since.
I have received 3 e-mail from mixed up person regarding some things I justed listed.
The wording,topic,and reference are strange.
EDIT:
Here is a copy of one of them.
