I am in the process of swapping a 85 351 in a 1980 f100 with a 3speed manual. It had a 302 and now I need to know which clutch I should buy. Does it matter if I buy a clutch for a 80 351 or 85?
I would say buy the clutch that would go with the year of the tranny, that way the input shaft/splines match up, but I dont think the 351W was in the early 80's trucks. I think they only had the 351M up until 82-83. I'm sure someone will chime in if I'm wrong. A 302 cltuch kit should work though, I used a 302 clutch when I installed a 4spd in my 67 mustang with a 351W.
You mean throwout bearing? It could, I went through 5 different throwout bearings while swapping a 5spd into my 302 Capri until I found one that matched.
