Hi all, New here and I have some problems that might be of interest to some of you. After driving a 99 F250 V10, since new, for over 160,000 miles, with only minor motor trouble,(thottle control sensors), I bought a new 2007 F250 V10. The 2007 has 15,000 miles and the lifters on the right bank had to be replaced after of course a loud tapping noise. The tapping noise started within the first or second week. The 99 had a similar tap but not until well over 100,000 miles. Along with new lifters, the fulcrums(sp) and assembly where also replaced I believe. There's more, I have also experienced a cold start problem as well. When starting the truck for the first time in the morning it would almost stall when put in gear. After the engine warmed this problem would not happen. The dealer has stood behind the warranty and repaired the motor along with providing me with transportation. This really is just a method for me to share my trouble and hopefully find a little sympathy. Has anyone else had these problems? I'm being told they are rare and the V10 has been a strong good running motor. Looks like it needs a blower motor too, when the fan is on high there is a sound like a plane under the dash! The gas milage is another big change, 1999= 12to 14MPG, the 2007=8 to 10 MPG???
Thanks for giving me somewhere to vent!
Not Happy, The Black
Huh, I don't know why you'd have the mileage drop...
Hey Ace, The 07 is rated heavier, the only thing that I can think of that would have such a drastic difference??? Both the 99 and the 07 are super duties with the super cab,4x4 w/air. The 07 is a Lariat, the 99 was a XLT.
Thanks for the reply!
I bet if you were to put both trucks on a scale the 07 would be around 700 to 1100 pounds heavier... this has a negative MPG impact
the 15000 miles on the 3v V10 suggest it is "broken in" so that is not the problem
The lower gear ratio add a MPG hit but not much
Sounds to me like this chap has one of the rare POS motors and probably will be a dog for the life of the vehicle....
If you can, set your self up to envoke the "Lemon law" or a Ford "BUY Back".... either way you are never going to be happy with this truck...sorry...it happens
I love mine... very early production run of the 3v v10... I get 10.5-12 MPG but freely admit I spend too much time with a drooling BSEG...all right foot induced
Thanks guys for your input. It seems that the MPG became the choice of discussion and I thought that there would be more concern over the internal lifter issue. Yes the 07 is heavier and I would expect lower MPG but not roughly 33% less. EDITTED by moderator krewat The tough part is I do love The Black!

EDITTED by moderator krewat - please take this to PM's or email - can't discuss this sort of stuff according to guildelines
Generally speaking these are exceptionally reliable and powerful machines... When you get a good one you will Know it... and every single day you flip the key a slight smile will appear... once in gear and rolling down the drive way the smile gets a little broader...entering the freeway or pull off from a stop and seeing the majority of ALL traffic distinctly BEHIND you morphs the broad smile into a Big S___ Eating Grin (BSEG)... The occasional youngster in a "Yea it's a Hemi" light weight truck will challenge you... when he finally pulls up beside you at the next light he will finally see the mighty V10 badge hidden under the side inlets..this is when your BSEG is so intense you have to wipe the dribble of drool off your chin... The rest of the day at the job site your attitude is so infectious that your co-workers might think you did a little toot on the way to work... but you secretly know that the beast of a truck is the reason....
This is why you NEED to make "The Black" some one else's problem and get back in line for a "perfect" SuperDuty

As I read the guidelines we are not able to discuss legal actions in these forum relating to civil or class action law suits or the like... But I think the ownership of a manufactured vehicle, warranty issues, remedies, arbitration and Lemon Law facts and the problems associated with them and the normal courses of action to get a problem resolved are fair topics....
But so be it----- I will PM brother Black tis a shame... lots of lurkers here that are interested in their rights and courses of action....
