wants to keep running
OK of course you guys know I have 81 Ford F-150 300 straight six ok when I want to turn the motor off it wants to keep running but it only does it with premium gas higher octain gas does not do it is it a timing problem or is it a carb problem help me out please.

My truck used to do the same thing, only it did it no matter what gas I used. I replaced the carb and that fixed the problem for me. A carb rebuild kit is fairly cheap and a reman carb isn't all that expensive. I have a Canadian built truck so it had a weird carb model, but it was still only $120 at autozone.

I believe its called deiseling, carbon deposits in the cylinders cause hot spots that continue to ignite the fuel even without a spark. Alot of another guys run seafoam with their gas to help remove these carbon deposits
