Anyone ever have a hood not open for them? The cable isn't broken. When you pull the lever in the cab you can hear something in the releasing mechanism moving but it won't pop. I don't know how to get to the latch becasue there are so many shourds and stuff in the way. Its not like my truck where i can reach it up behind the grille. Not sure what to do but i have to get in there and replace an ign coil. Tryed pushing/pulling on it while someone pulled the release lever. I know it sounds stupid but does anyone have andy ideas i may have not tryed yet??
I just went through this on a 96 Ram. After jumping up and down on the hood almost literally, spraying an entire can of pb onto the mechanism, and going into the barn to retrieve really, big freakin hammer to make space in the grill so I could get my hand through, decided to call a couple of smaller local repair shops. Much to my suprise, on the second call, the mechanic had 'made tools' to open most hoods. 10 minute ride,
$10.00 later, hood opened. Installed a second pull wire off the mechanism that hangs downby the radiator to avoid it in the future.
I know the dealer is $100.00 +, for the opening and 'adjusting'. That's why the hammer was coming out. Grill cheaper from boneyard than that.
