ok so here is my problem 4.9 is hard to start when its cold (what a shock i know lol). It takes about 5-6 seconds of cranking to fire up,and well this is bugging the hell out of me. The battery is good (full charge) i have new msd 8.5mm wires, new plugs, new msd coil and the cap and rotor are in good shape. I though maybe the fuel pump relay but it seems fine (turned the key to the postion right before start and can hear the pump working). Iam a little stumped
the only thing i can think of is maybe the starter or a clogged fuel filter?. Any other ideas of what to check would be great its not a huge problem but its something that isnt right and like i said it annoy's the heck out of me everytime i go to start up
sorry it took so long to reply lots of school work,The octane iam useing is 87 i believe (regular gas at the pump) ill give the high stuff a try see what happens thanks for the advise oh ya its a efi
What did you gap the plugs at? how did you route the wires if they are touching or touching metal you are losing voltage!! At night or in a dark garage,Get a spray bottle full of water or windex and spray down the wires all along their length and start the motor look for sparks jumping between wires and to metal on the motor, etc. If you see any, try to isolate that wire better or if all else fails get some split loom and put it over your wires!! Clean all of your ground points actually remove the wires, wire brush the frame or body, apply dielectric grease and reconnect.
