Truck's got some power still
Had to tow my brand new-old Honda 550 from Spokane and the Ranger drove perfectly fine the whole way. Just drove the bike into the bed, strapped it down, gassed up and took off. It struggled mightily getting out of Spokane, but soon it was back up to 70 and cruising right along. The only trouble spot I ran into was getting it up Vantage Hill and onto Ryegrass summit - 10 miles and ~3000 foot gain. Anybody whose driven I-90 knows how difficult it can be to get an unloaded car up that hill - much less one hauling a 400 lb bike and a 250 lb driver. I will say I smelled transmission fluid at the top of Ryegrass hill and it refused to upshift to 4th from 3rd so I pulled into the rest stop on the summit and let it cool off for a bit. Besides the rest of the trip was nothing. Westbound I-90 over Snoqualmie pass is childsplay when it isn't snowing.
Overall she's doing just fine. 110,000 miles and no real show stopping problems. Need to change the transmission fluid after the haul but that's nothing.
