Brick Brakes
On my way home from work yesterday I went to apply the brakes and the pedal felt like stepping on a brick. The pedal had nearly zero movement and I had to stand on them to get the truck to slow down even a bit. Once I got it stopped, I pressed the brake pedal again and all felt fine. Figured it was a fluke and drove on home. Did the same thing at the house, felt just like standing on a brick, no movement in the pedal and no brake response. I tried revving the engine and setting and releasing the parking brake with no change. Both times it's done it I was traveling slow but I'm not sure I want to take it someplace not knowing when it will happen again. The brake fluid level is good but hasn't been replaced/bled in a couple of years. The brakes have had a slight squeak to them for a month or so but nothing major. Any ideas??
