I am running a boss 8'2" v plow on my 04 excursion with a 6.0 It plows great and has zero issues what so ever. I did get springs for the front just to make sure it handled the weight right.
Honestly two wheel drive is so so but I do not have a limited slip rear end. In four wheel drive its an animal and will move anything. No it has no issues what so ever with the airbag sensors. It is the same as a superduty as far as mounts go. You need to remove the blocker bar but it gets replaced by the plow frame. Thats the process with any plow install on a ford truck.
The only reason why i ask, is because Downriver thunder (i think that is his user name) has a plow on his x and he said that he always plows in 2wd unless its over like 6 inchs. I was thinking about getting a plow, and putting a locker or a limited slip in the rear end with some commercial rated snow tires from BFG. I would obivously have to put sand bags in the truck. Do u think this is a dumb idea?
Depends on what you plan on plowing. Just a normal driveway (100 yrds or less) wouldn't take much to plow. You could always chain up and push about any amount of snow nature could throw at you in 2wd. It would be a hassle if you were planning on doing it commercially though.
Please correct me if I"m wrong! I thought you couldn't put a plow on a diesel excursion? I took my truck to the local plow shop and they told me the diesel engine was so heavy that with a passenger(s) in the truck, the addition of a plow would overload the front axles capacity. They wouldn't even entertain the though of putting it on anyway, due to the liability exposure.

Last friday I stopped by a local dealer for Boss plows and discussed different issues with plows and they told me the X would not be a problem at all.
IMHO, if it's not a 4x4 X "Don't Bother". To me, there is NOTHING MORE EMBARRASING than getting stuck wearing a PLOW! Trust me I know and I was driving a 4x4 Jeep! (Thank goodness I wasn't "Chained-Up" at that time!)
FYI, BFG Does NOT make a "Commercial Rated" (E-Range 3000 -3400 lb) Dedicated Snow Tire for an X. The only two 265/75/16 E Range real snow tires I could find are Bridgestone W965 (No Studs) or Cooper Discoverer (Studs OK) M+S. Nokian Hakkapelliita LT (Studs OK) are fantastic and I've used-up three sets on other vehicles, but are only available in D-Range in this size.
FYI I don't sell tires, I just wear them out!
Save the $ for a plow and trade-in for a 4x4 6.0 "X".
