Question What does your temp guage read?

Mine is on the N in NORMAL. I am wondering other IL6 guys actually find normal to be. TIA.

Usually around the R, but sometimes drifts up to A.

Mine was pushing the "L" until I replaced my cheap stainless steel thermostat with a good old brass one. Both were 195 deg. Now it stays near the "O". 1986 F150 with 200,000 miles.

That's the first time I've seen "cheap" and "stainless steel" in the same sentence.

What was it before and is not hitting n neccesarily a good thing? I'm pretty sure we both need sending units.

Both of my 300s run on the cooler side, No and sometimes R.

Eventually I'm going to put that info in my sig. like some of the other cool kids do. I've got a '93 OBD1. It was pointed out to me in a different forum that Ford designed the guages to ride around the middle to show normal because it was what looked best. Good thing they didn't use numbers. Kidding.

I have a 180 stat, and it hits 180 and dosen't budge, it moved once, when I was towing a tractor on my trailer up 222 which has a pretty good grade, and it was about 100 in mid summer, But I kept the V8 radiator from the 352 that was in the truck.

mine always stays to the left of N. I have been looking for the short, however I can't find one. Maybe my sender unit is bad

Mine is toward the NO. Stock everything. New sending unit, temp sensor, thermostat and radiator. That's where it's always been for me. 210k.

195* stat, runs 210 all day every day no matter what. It could be 40 below or 115 out.

185. 185 . 185. 185. Would creep up to 195-200 when sitting in july traffic. . . rarely. Believe it or not, water-wetter really helped!
