I going to replace and inner tierod on a 99 Ranger tonight. I there anything
special I should know before attempting this. I will be taking it in for an alignment after completion.

You really should. Anytime you change a front steering part like that. You can change you "toe" setting. Toe in or out can wear a tire, and bad enough can give you a pull one way or another, or have you feeling like you are over steering/correcing you're steering. Bob
I have a 17 year old and I'm trying to teach him a little responsibility. He stood me up so now I am making him do it himself. It's bow hunting season and I am out of town for the hunt. He is being forced to stay home and do the job. I won't let him take it on the highway until its replaced.
I belive it is a rack and pinion,but, I am not 100% on that.
