71 steering pump,
Hi guys, need to break down my steering pump , off 71 351w , got to get pully wheel off so can then get bracket off, can then get cleaned & powder coated , anyone know of any diagrams, or can help, has 3/8 allen key in centre , but need to try & hold pully rock solid, must be some easy way to get off, cheers Kev, uk.

There is . Special puller made just for that purpuse. you also need it to put the pully back on as beating it with a hammer or clamping in a vice is a big no no - you will damage the seals as well as the shaft or pully or both. Most stores that carry a decent range of automotive tools will have one. they can range in price from fairly cheep to really expensive. A better alternative would be to try a local repair shop or perhaps even a parts store. Some around here will pull them for nada. Just don,t beat or pry on it. Some of the guys here may have a few tricks they use to remove them as well. Cheers Mark US of A
