I Know Wrong Forum...but!

Sorry...but the other forum is not helping much! Here is what I posted on the other one. Do yall have any ideas maybe?

I will try to make this short as possible... 2001 Ford 350,7.3, DRW, 90k miles, purchased a few months ago. Was told by the old owner that it has the following... Diablo chip, upgraded turbo (don't know what the upgrade was), and AIRAID intake (along with other upgrades like exhaust and guages).
PROBLEM...about 3 weeks ago the air would quit blowing cold every once and a while (other then that it was running fine). Yesterday while pulling a trailer, we slowed down to make a sharp turn and the truck stalled. Put it in neutral and it started back up and went on its way. Right before the stall the a/c quit blowing cold air again. Today...driving 75 mph down the highway and the truck (for lack of better words) acted like the engine missed. First time it did it, it was almost like I hit a pot hole in the road. About 20 miles down the road it did it again, and then another 20 miles it did it again. The second time the "service engice soon" light came on. Got to a gas station, shut the truck off, when I started her back up the light was off and it was running fine for the 2 miles to my house. Dont know if any of theses problems are related to one thing...ANY THOUGHTS?

One person said the CPS...that do yall think that this may be it?

Its sounds like a CAM sensor as for the AC i dont know why it would blow warm. Those symptoms with sputtering and shutting down are the symptoms of a CAM sensor.

I think you have 2 things going on at once. CPS is the first thing to replace IMO. They are very cheap now, from the dealer.

Does the AC change to the defrost vents when it blows warm or is it still blowing out of the dash vents?

i 2ND THE cps, change it out, thier cheap now at ford. Or if you really want to look into it it, get it scanned since you had the CEL but I say throw in a cps.

The air conditioning could be coincidense(sp?) with the stalling, I'm more leaning on you have two seperate problems.

I say cam sensor needs changing too. You never know what they will do. Some die, some do what you describe. The a/c....do this. Have the truck running, hood open a/c on max, fan high. Go out under the hood and wiggle the connector on top of the a/c compressor. Should have 3 wires coming out of it. Wiggle the connector as well as each wire. Alot of times this connector corrodes and causes low voltage to the clutch. Mine did this and as I was watching the a/c compressor engage and disengage, it looked like the clutch itself was slipping really bad. But it was because it wasn't getting enough voltage to keep the clutch engaged. Anyway, that's something you could try. Above that, I would check the coolant charge. Hope that helps. I think it's two issues and not related.

Thanks for the info...I had it scanned and it is in fact the cps. Last one I got for my 97' from the dealer set me back about $150. That was about 6 months ago. The problems was the fuel pump in the 97' and not the cps, so this is the first time I have delt with a cps problem. Yall are right....it does make the truck do wierd things. Im glad that is all it is...we are hauling to a race out in Texas in November and sure don't need any problems with this truck along the way. Thanks for the help once again !!!

Looks like you have some to spare...lol My 97' is a work in progress. It is currently in the body shop getting all the body work done to it. That was not where my wife wanted me to start...however the rust on the cab was more important then a faster truck. I still cant convince my wife of this...but she is getting over it. The 01' we use for hauling our horse trailer so Im happy where it is now! Of course it too will be paid off sooner or later and thennnnn....maybe it can be a toy too!

BTW don't get a chip till you ask here, you don't want a diablo on our rigs. Just FYI.
