Titan 51 Gallon Tank Install

Finally got my Titan 51 Gallon tank installed on my 2008 F-250 6.4L King Ranch. Instructions could have been better, but it's in and I'm driving it. With diesel at 4 bucks around here, the first fill was a killer. Now the MTE is useless, but that's the breaks. I've been getting 15 MPG unloaded, so 765 miles before the next killer diesel stop.

Be sure to check the opening on top of tanks in a few days to ensure a tight seal. I hear you have to re-torgue the lid to get the proper seal.

Yes, the stock sender works just fine. I'm still on my first full tank, and it took about 250 miles for the gauge to start dropping. I'm now showing about half tank at 400 miles. The MTE, of course, is no longer accurate, and shows 240 to E. I have just been going back and forth to work, unloaded, getting about 15 MPG, so I theoretically have a 765 mile range. Others who have installed the Titan tank have said that the gauge seems to get more accurate over time and fill-ups. Hopefully, when I'm ready to fill, diesel prices will be lower than it is now. I would like to have an accurate MTE, like the 2011's and '12's can, but no programming available to change tank size for the '08-'10 6.4L diesels.
All in all, I'm very happy with the tank, and love the increased range, which will save me from freezing my butt off a few times in the winter, and give me the extra range to find a truck stop in the summer, when we are pulling out 10,000 lb 31' toy hauler.

The DTE will start to become more accurate the closer to empty you get, assuming it was accurate to begin with. Once you get below the fuel level of the original tank size, it should begin showing numbers more inline with your fuel level and the running avg.

That makes sense. The MTE was always fairly accurate according to my previous fill up calculations with the stock tank. The avg. MPG display has also been very accurate when comparing to actual calculations, so it's all good. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a stickler on MPG or the cost of fuel, I just want to be able to keep going without having to stop and look for diesel in unfamiliar territory every 250 miles, especially when towing my 31' toy hauler. In the winter, when I'm driving about 200 unloaded miles a week, I will now be able to go almost a month between fuel stops. (read before getting a small loan to fill up)

Did you install the tank yourself if so was it easy and how much was the tank itself?

The tank was purchased from and installed by Steroid Diesel, in Valparaiso Indiana. (Great people to work with) They said they had some difficulty with the instructions, but got it figured out pretty quick. (It was their first Titan install) The total with parts and labor, was 1400 bucks, and that included 10 gallons of diesel (there was 1 gallon in it when I dropped it off) and an oil change with filter.
