Transfer Case Question

I am in need of a new transfer case for my 89 f250 diesel. I am not realy sure if anyone remembers what was wrong with it but if you search the word transfer case then your bound to find the information. Basically the front part of the t-case where the linkages rod goes into the casing is worn and the play in the rod allows the linkage to move back and forth and pull away from the shift fork. This allows the t case to totally fall out of gear. My question is would a t-case out of a 94 f-250 work in place of the one I have(are they both borg warner 1356). I am not sure what engine it came off of. If anything the face could be swapped between the two cases if necessary.

Should work. Ford used the 13-56 in the late 80s up till the lmid-late 90s. Its smaller brother, the 13-54, was used in the Rangers possibly still.

BW 1345 or BW 1356 will fit your 89.

The speedo cable was in the transfer case on 4x4 trucks till 92.
Transmission on the 2 wheel drive trucks till 92.

I would like to keep the lower geared t-case that I have but if I come accross a cheap 1345 I'll probably buy it. I am also wondering if the face of an automatic 1356 transfer case can be made into a manual t-case by switching the front of the automatic to the bad front of my manual it would solve my problem. But I have never seen an automatic 1356 so I am not completely certain it will work.
